Obituary of Bentley W. Foster
Bentley Worth (Ben) Foster III, age 67, died on Friday, February 13, 2009 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Ben was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Bentley and Gertrude Moore Foster. He resided in North Plainfield and Piscataway prior to moving to Basking Ridge 17 years ago. He served in the United States Army from 1962-64 and later attended Brookdale Community College in Lincroft obtaining an A.A.S. degree in Automotive Engineering Technology.
Ben worked as a service technician for the Haig Service Corporation in Green Brook, General Electric Astrospace in East Windsor, Engelhard Corporation in Edison and Electronics Associates in West Long Branch. Post-retirement he worked for 2 years as smoke detector inspector for Bernards Township.
Ben was a volunteer driver for the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels and served as a handyman for the Somerset County Office of Volunteer Services. He enjoyed the computer and spending time with his grandchildren. He was also an animal lover who had a special passion for those that were homeless or neglected.
He is survived by his wife, Lorie Roettger Foster; his son, Mark A. Witzal and his wife, Helaine; his daughter, Kara D. Dellinger and her husband, Mark; his brother, Don G. Foster and his wife, Muriel, of New Hampshire; also 4 grandchildren, Jarett Witzal and Grace, Liam and Ryan Dellinger.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 19th at 10:30 a.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Interment will be private.
