Obituary of Anthony Carnevale

Anthony Carnevale, age 88, died on Thursday February 26, 2009 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Newark, NJ, Mr. Carnevale had resided in Warren since 1970. Prior to retiring in 1987, Mr. Carnevale was a physicist at Lucent Technologies formerly Bell Labs in Murray Hill for 17 years. He received his degrees from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Mr. Carnevale was a United States Navy veteran having served in the Pacific theater during World War II. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked. Mr. Carnevale was a member of the American Legion, Warren Post and the DAV, Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed speaking to grammar schools about World War II and participated in the Warren Township Memorial Day celebrations. He was a member of the Warren Senior Citizens and enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City. Mr. Carnevale, affectionately known as "Mr. C.," was loved by the neighborhood children and their parents. With his wife, Jean, he saw them on and off their school bus everyday and watched over some until their parents picked them up. He tutored some in math and other subjects after school. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Bertha (Jean) Carnevale; daughters Patricia Bond and Brenda McNaughten, a daughter-in-law Linda Bond, three grandsons Timothy, Michael, and Kevin, three granddaughters Pamela, Michelle, and Kristen, three nephews Anthony, David, and Jack Carnevale,. He is predeceased by two sons Robert and James Bond and a daughter-in-law Gayle Bond. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday March 7, 2009 at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ. Interment to follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
