I was sorry to hear of Gene’s passing. Gene was my baseball coach in 1958 when I was a member of the OUr Lady of Sorrows team. My memories of him, and of my days so long ago on that team, are good ones. Gene was a good coach, and a fine mentor to this NEthen 14 year old Irish kid.
Thanks, Coach. RIP

Our deepest sympathies to Aunt Kathleen and entire family. It seems so unfair for one family to endure. I have many fond memories of family gatherings at each other's homes and my dad and Uncle Gene singing Irish tunes together. May the 4 brothers, Joe, Leo, Marty and Gene be reunited together forever in peace and their memories stay close to our hearts. Love, Patrice, Jim, JT and Madeleline

We'll always remember Gene with a gentle smile on his face for everyone. He would always bring his box of sweets to the pool and pass it around, making everyone laugh. He would salute me from his balconey, across the street from us,in Naples,Fl.
Gene is a true Irish treasure, may God Bless You!

Gene was my husband, Marty's brother, one of the easiest people to get to know and love. He will be missed as are all the Preston brothers. I told him to stay healthy and well....he's the last Preston! Rest in peace. Joan

My first experience with Mr. Preston was when I was a wee lad - the "Dennis the Menace" character in our Plainfield, NJ neighborhood. One winter night I was busy unscrewing the Preston's Christmas lights from their bushes and Mr. Preston happened upon me - I started to flee the scene when I heard these words "stop or I'll shoot" I froze in my tracks. Needless to say I lived to tell the tale. That was a long long walk back to my parent’s house where he turned me in - what a brat I was! We laughed many times over the years at the retelling of that night - most recently 2 years ago at a reunion of the Plainfield gang. He was a great guy - I'll miss him.
