Obituary of Theodore Frederic Cooke

Theodore Frederic Cooke, III, known as Fred, age 68, died on Tuesday, May 28th, 2013 at his home in Warren. Born in Washington, DC, he had resided in Martinsville all of his life, moving recently to Warren. Fred attended the University of Massachusetts studying Civil Engineering, as well as Windham College in Vermont. Fred owned and operated Napco, later called Theodore F. Cooke, III, Inc., in Martinsville, a construction and excavation business with jobs throughout central New Jersey. He was also actively involved in the community. Activities included: President of the Watchung Mountain Preservation Association, Charter member and past President of the Martinsville Merchants Association, Martinsville 150th Anniversary Celebration committee, elected member of Bridgewater-Raritan Board of Education, a Church Deacon at the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church in Bound Brook and served as Exalted Ruler of the Watchung Hills Elks. In his spare time he was an avid skier, swimmer, golfer and loved camping and spending time with his family. Fred was predeceased by his parents Dr. Theodore F. Jr. and Virginia (Hegamyer) Cooke and his wife Martha (McAllister) Cooke. He is survived by his daughter Dr. Michele Cooke-Andresen and her husband Gavin Andresen; his step-mother Barbara Cooke; three step-children Greg Oberg, Julie Weitz and her husband Dr. Steven Weitz, Chris Oberg and his wife Pamela; his sisters Caroline June Mauro, Nancy Cooke and Susan Broscious; his grandchildren Will and Robin Andresen, Katie Oberg, Adam and Lindsey Weitz and Alexis Oberg; nieces and nephews Dr. Patricia Mauro, Pamela Bolin, Michael Mauro, Meredith Mauro, Mary Broscious, John Broscious and Dr. Courtney Broscious and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be held on Saturday June 1st from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by funeral services at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society ( www.cancer.org/) or the Liver Transplant Program of the Foundation of UMDNJ, (120 Albany street, Tower II suite 850 New Brunswick, New Jersey 08901).
