Obituary of John Anthony Samsell

Warren: John Anthony Samsell, age 86, died suddenly on Monday, April 20, 2009, at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Moosic, PA. he had resided in Berkeley Heights before moving to Warren in 1971.Prior to retiring in 1989, Mr. Samsell was President of Central Jersey Steel Strapping and Supply in South Plainfield for twenty-eight years; previously, he had worked for Ringel Paper Company in Newark as a salesman and office manager for twelve years.A Veteran of World War II, he had served with the Army Air Force in the 392 Squadron Group as a 1st Lieutenant. A B24 Pilot, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Bronze Star.He was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Berkeley Heights serving as a Deacon and Elder; he was also a member of the Westfield Pythagoras Lodge.His brother, Joseph Mozelesky and sister, Annette Huylo predeceased him.Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Dolores Zenker Samsell; two brothers, Edward Samsell of Dunmore, PA and Wallace Mozelesky of Scranton, PA.; two sisters, Marion Burke and Nancy Mozelesky Rowinski both of Scranton, PA and many nieces and nephews and his Siamese cat, Tami.A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, May 9 at 11:00 am at the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Cremation was private under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung. Memorial contributions can be sent to the John A.
