Obituary of Adeline Grubelich
Adeline Grubelich, age 91, died on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at her home with her husband Matthew of 68 years by her side.
Adeline born and raised in Union City, had lived in Plainfield for 54 years before residing in North Plainfield.
During her past twenty years her principal enjoyment has been her five grandchildren. She has sustained and nourished them through ideals and morals that remain timeless.
She was a member of St. Mary's R.C. Church in Plainfield and a Red Cross volunteer frequently sharing compassion and time with the veterans at Lyon's Hospital. She commented that the impact the veterans made on her was beyond words and her commitment to enlivening their lives never waned. Her selfless loyalty to others extended across boundaries of age, race and creed. During the five decades she lived in her neighborhood various neighbors took solace in her non-judgmental skills of listening to whatever gave meaning to their lives. She found something remarkable in every individual.
Adeline is predeceased by her siblings Mary, Anita, Donald, Edward, Thomas, Almerindo and Jean.
She is survived by her husband Matthew Grubelich, her son Gregory Grubelich and her daughter Angela Glassman.. Adeline is also survived by three sisters, Helen, Gloria and Yolanda and five grandchildren, Naomi, Ria, Amber, Cody and Dana .
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 20th at 9:00 a.m. from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Plainfield. Entombment will be in St. Mary Stony Hill Cemetery, Plainfield Avenue, Watchung. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
