Obituary of David D. Delaney

Mr. David D. Delaney, 73, son of the late C. Donald and Doris Baldwin Delaney, died suddenly on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at his home. Born in South Amboy, he resided in Plainfield before moving to North Plainfield in 1965. Prior to retiring 29 years ago, he was employed for 23 years as a mechanical engineer for Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill. David attended Villanova University and graduated from Newark College of Engineering. He enjoyed fishing, ice skating and tinkering with cars. Dave liked to cook and was known for his apple pie, deviled eggs, and corned beef and cabbage. David loved his family. Surviving are his wife, Deborah Lewkow; a brother, Thomas Delaney of Chadds Ford, PA; three sisters, Carol Delaney Pfaff of Torrance, CA, Patricia Delaney Matarazzo of North Caldwell NJ and Doris Delaney Matthews of Bloomington, IL; many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 9:15 am from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10 am Mass of Resurrection at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in North Plainfield and interment at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm.
