Obituary of David W. Koo
David W. Koo, age 70, died suddenly on Monday, June 8, 2009 at Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown.
David was born in China and came to the US in 1953 and had lived in Shrewsbury, NJ before residing in Martinsville in 1978.
David graduated from Wheaton College in 1960 with a BS degree. Shortly thereafter he found a job at Witco Chemical Company working mostly at the Perth Amboy laboratory. He stayed with them for over 30 years as a chemist before retiring in 1997.
David enjoyed helping others though Newark City Relief, Market Street Mission, financing mission trips, and was very active in Millington Baptist Church and singles group. David has financed many charity events and mission trips and has personally supplied new socks, gloves, scarfs, and hats to give to the homeless. The singles group along with David handed these items out on the streets of Newark.
David is predeceased by his parents, Dr.Pak Chue Chan and Ethel Groce Chan.
He is survived by his son, Scott D. Koo of Martinsville, and his brother, Siu Hung; one sister, Barbara Tou of Canada and his former wife, Sherry Koo.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 10 a.m. in the Millington Baptist Church, 520 King George Road, Basking Ridge. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung. Interment will be in Linn Cemetery, Wentzville, Missouri near his mother.
