Obituary of Martin T. Walsh

Martin T. Walsh, age 54, died on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.Martin was born in Elizabeth and had lived in Plainfield before residing in Green Brook 24 years ago. He was the owner and operator of Walsh & Sons, LLC in Green Brook for over 15 years. In 1997 Martin received the "Volunteer of the Year Award" from the Green Brook Township. In 1999 he was the President of the Washington Rock Pop Warner Football League. He served on the Board of the Green Brook Little League. In June 2009 the township renamed the little league fields the "Martin T. Walsh Baseball Complex, The Home of Green Brook Baseball". Martin really loved spending time with his family.Martin is predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth D. (Penik) Walsh in June 2007; his brother, Michael Walsh in March 2007 and his parents, James J. Walsh and Helen F. Debesis.He is survived by his three children, Joseph M., Amanda E. and Ryan M. Walsh all of Green Brook; two sisters, Patricia Walsh of Peoria, AZ and Katherine Walsh Flynn of Denver, CO.A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung. Cremation is private.In lieu of flowers, donations to the children's education fund may be payable to the Walsh Living Trust, dated 7/20/2007, 15 Lillian Street, Green Brook, NJ 08812, would be appreciated.
