I grew up in Berkeley Heights. In 1968, when I was 18 and a college freshman, I was in a very serious car accident in Virginia that mangled my right hand. A surgeon in Virginia was not able to restore movement of the three middle fingers. I am so grateful to Dr. Dangelmajer for being able to correct the first surgeon's work and restore the full functioning of my hand. I went on to fulfilling career in the Army which I could not have completed without his help. I remember him as being very patient in explaining the problem, what he was going to do, and my prognosis. Dr. Dangelmajer was a true physician in word and deed.

Jeffrey, Susan, and Lisa,
I frequently babysat you when we lived next door on Ferndale. I loved both of your parents. Kathy was always the life of the party. Your dad removed some stitches from the heel of my foot one summer day on our front steps. A doctor in Mountainside had stitched me up following an accident at a friend's pool. He wasn't too pleased with the other doctor's work! You guys were terrific neighbors; I loved your parents. Tell your cousin, Sharon Gannon, I said hello. One summer night we talked out our bathroom windows for hours.
Hope you are well. Sorry to hear that Rudy has gone home, but I know he and Kathy are united once again. Love you, Jana

I cannot overstate the debt of gratitdue I owe to Dr. Dangelmajer. I was born with short tendons and a club foot. He successfully operated on me repeatedly during my early childhood allowing me to maintain a normal athletic lifestyle. He was kind, patient, and had a wonderful sense of humour. For a child, he turned a potential tragedy into a challenge and a challenge into a success. I will always remember him with gratitude and fondness. Sincere condolences to his family. W. Lee

I WISH TO EXPRESS MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO THE DANGELMAJER FAMILY. I WORK AS A PHYSICAL THERAPIST AT OVERLOOK HOSPITAL AND TREATED DR. DANGELMAJER'S PATIENTS. HE WAS A DEAR, KIND MAN TO HIS PATIENTS AND THE STAFF AT OVH. I HAD A GREAT DEAL OF RESPECT FOR HIM AND FEEL HONORED TO HAVE WORKED WITH HIM. HE WAS AN OUTSTANDING SURGEON.

We know Rudy from Florida - we are neighbours at the Windrush North condo. We always enjoined our conversations around the pool with Rudy. We'll miss seeing him sitting in the shade reading his book. I'll treasure the photos I have of him at my 50th birthday party held in Dunedin. Condolences to his family.

Rudy, my husband Richard, and I spent many happy hours eating forbidden hotdogs and discussing world affairs and literature (mostly detective fiction) around the bounteous table of Dottie Vincent.
Among the moments I most cherished were when Rudy would quietly dispense some absolutely outrageous fact or opinion in a patent attempt to drive our hostess right up the wall.
When he would inevitably suceed, I would say, "Dottie, Dottie, for God's sake, don't you see he's got that twinkle in his eye?"
She never did see.
No. Scratch that.
She only pretended she didn't. No way was she going to spoil the fun.
I cannot say how much I will miss my Vincent Salon friend. Those gatherings were often the highlight of my week. Even if I could never convince Rudy of the error of his moderate political ways.
Among my 19-year-old son J.T.'s prized possessions is the climbing pole Uncle Rudy gave him from his days in Japan. J.T. was studying Japanese in school at the time and taking in all Uncle Rudy had to say at the Saturday salons as a kid whose own grandfather had had a stroke and could no longer speak. J.T. was stricken to hear of Rudy's death.
We love you, Uncle Rudy.
Eat a big grilled dog for us in heaven and kick back with a great murder mystery.

RUDY was a beautiful man. He always had a smile on his face and was a great story teller.
The love he held for his grandchildren was so plentiful and never ending. This world has lost a great man.

Rudy was an active Trustee of YCS and well liked by all. Even in his later years as an honorary trustee, he continued to support this very worthy cause -- and was always there to help NJ children in need. Everyone at YCS will miss him dearly.
