Obituary of Rose Elda Belardo

Plainfield: Mrs. Rose E. Belardo (nee Panella), 92 died on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at her home in Plainfield. Born in Westfield, the daughter of immigrant parents, Rosy graduated from Drake Business College in 1931. She worked as a legal secretary for the next fifity years, ending her career with the law firm of DeMarco and Lore in Dunellen. Upon retirement from the work force, she logged over 500 hours as a volunteer in the Administrative Offices of Muhlenberg Hospital. She is predeceased by her husband, Dominick in 2007 and leaves to mourn, her son, Lt. Col. Ret. USAF Dominick S. Belardo, Jr. and his wife, Karen of Herndon, VA; her daughter, Carol Purcell of Maplewood; 5 grandchildren, Robert Purcell and his wife Yumiko of Tokyo, Japan, Timothy Purcell of North Bergen; Kelly Duffy and her husband, Pat of Huntersville, NC; Christina Vaudo and her husband Corey of Vienna, VA; and Major Michael Belardo, USAF and his wife, Jennifer of Warrensburg, Missouri and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will begin on Saturday, August15th at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St. Plainfield followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Bernard's Church in Plainfield. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9. Memorial contributions may be made in her loving memory to St. Bernard's R.C.
