Obituary of Sr. Mary Michaeli Burns

Sister Michaeli, 98, died peacefully on August 12, 2009 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung, NJ. Sister was born and raised in Atlantic City, NJ and entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1930. She received a BS degree in elementary education from Georgian Court College and began her teaching career. She taught in St John School, Collingswood, Sts. Phillip and James School, Phillipsburg and Saint Francis Cathedral School, Metuchen. She also served as Principal in St Mary School, Bordentown. After more than fifty years of teaching the little ones she loved dearly she retired to Saint James Convent, Red Bank and then in 2002 moved to McAuley Hall Health Care Center where she continued her ministry of pray and hospitality. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews. . Visitation will take place at McAuley Hall Health Care Center on Saturday, August 15, 2009. Wake from 9:00 - 10:30 am followed by mass of Christian burial at 10:30am. Burial in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield, NJ.
