Obituary of Mary Muglia
Mary (Bencivengo) Muglia, age 86, died on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Morris Hills Center in Morristown. Born and raised in Plainfield, she had resided in North Plainfield for over 40 years before moving to Morristown.
She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Luke's R.C. Church in North Plainfield. Mary was a volunteer with the USO during World War II, the Red Cross, Deborah and Muhlenberg Hospital for over 30 years.
She enjoyed hosting the North Plainfield football teams Friday night spaghetti and meatball dinners at her home in the late 1960's, which helped lead the team to 3 undefeated seasons. Mary loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was loved by everyone who knew her for her positive and sunny outlook on life.
Predeceased by her husband Anthony P. Muglia in 1986 and her son Carl Muglia in 1979.
Surviving are her sons Richard Muglia and his wife Ellen; Anthony Muglia and his wife Donna; her daughters Ann Marie Zampella and her husband Ron; Anita Kotter and her husband Tom; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Shrine of St. Joseph's in Stirling. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
