Obituary of Salvatore J. Garabo

Salvatore J. Garabo, 85, died Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Hoboken University Medical Center. Born and raised in Jersey City, he resided in Weehawken before moving to Union City two years ago. Mr. Garabo was a bus driver for many years for Red and Tan Bus Lines in Jersey City. Mr. Garabo was a loving father and brother who always enjoyed spending time with his family. He was member of the choir at St Augustine's Church in Union City. A local singer known by the stage name Art Gary, he sang Big Band classics in Jersey City and Bayonne. He enjoyed listening to the Italian Tenors. Surviving are his son Bruce Garabo and a brother Charles Garabo. Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 1, 2009 from 8:30 am to 10:00am at Higgins Home For Funerals, 209 West 8th Street Plainfield, NJ 07060 followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville. Cremation will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge.
