Obituary of Laurence Schaefer

Laurence Schaefer, age 87, died on Sunday June 16, 2013 at his home in Juno Beach FL. Born in Brooklyn NY, Mr. Schaefer had resided in Summit, Chatham, Morristown and Jupiter FL before moving to Juno Beach FL five years ago. Mr. Schaefer had received a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College in 1949. Mr. Schaefer was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Schaefer owned and operated Chas Schaefer and Sons Inc., a rock salt and chemical company in Elizabeth, with his brother F. W. Schaefer for many years. He was an avid golfer and was a founding member of Fairmount Country Club in Chatham. He is predeceased by his brother F. William Schaefer Jr. He is survived by a son Marc Schaefer of New York City and a daughter Tracy Hart and her husband Chris of Green Brook, NJ. He is also survived by two grandchildren Chris, Jr. and Missy. A grave side service will be held on Friday June 21, 2013 at Fairmount Cemetery in Chatham at 11:30 am.
