Obituary of Herzl Rosenbaum

Herzl Rosenbaum, age 90, died on September 18, 2009 at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, NC. He was a native of Plainfield and later lived in Boynton Beach, FL. Mr. Rosenbaum was a 1939 graduate of The University of Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific from 1941 to 1945. For many years, he was with Rosenbaum's Department Store in Plainfield. He was employed by The West Point Jewish Chapel Fund. He was a gifted artist. As a young man, he did charcoal sketches of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Albert Einstein and Amelia Earhart, after which, all of the subjects autographed them. He volunteered at the Cartoon Museum as well as at the Boca Museum of Art in Boca Raton, FL. Throughout his life, he continued to paint and sculpt. He also enjoyed swimming. He is survived by his son, Mark Rosenbaum and wife Segrid Ellis of Greensboro, NC; his daughter Helaine Medoff and her husband Howard and his granddaughter Emily of Marietta, GA; his sister, Hadassah Raab of Israel.
