Obituary of Cornelia A Gunther

Cornelia "Corrie" (Reurs) Gunther Great-Grandmother of 15 Bridgewater: Cornelia "Corrie" Gunther, age 90, died on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Bridgeway Care Center in Bridgewater NJ. Born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, she and her family immigrated to the United States in 1959, settling in Plainfield and then moving to Westfield in 1968. She had also resided in Watchung from 1989 to 2003 before moving to Bridgewater. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry E. Gunther in 2006. Surviving are four sons; Alphons of Blairstown, Gerald of Long Hill Twp., Clemens of Mountainside and Charles of Watchung; five daughters Afra Agostino of Quakertown, PA., Marion Riley of Westfield, Anneke Martoccia of Watchung, Cecilia Scialla of Pipersville, PA., and Paula Reilly of Scotch Plains; 24 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 am funeral Mass at St. Bernard and St. Stanislaus Kostka R.C. Church in Plainfield then entombment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the funeral home.
