Obituary of Robert Andrew Vella

Robert Andrew Vella, age 73, died on Thursday, October 15, 2009, at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown. Born in Queens, NY he grew up on Staten Island before moving to Piscataway then residing in Bridgewater for thirty-eight years. He spent his winters in Palm Springs, CA. Robert attended Baruch College in Manhattan graduating with a BA in Business in 1959. He worked as an Agency Trader for thirty years on Wall Street with various companies, before retiring in 1991. An avid golfer who was a member of Raritan Valley Country Club and the Desert Horizon Country Club in Indian Wells, CA. He also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family. Surviving is his loving wife of forty-five years Maureen (O'Shea) Vella; his son Mark Vella of Lafayette, CA.;daughter Tracy Kelly and her husband Sean of Westwood, MA.; sister Carole Serad and her husband Jack of Waretown; grandchildren Cameron, Melena and Morgan Vella and Patrick, Nicholas, Christian and Ava Kelly; and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 19th, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church in Martinsville. Entombment is at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge. Visitation is on Sunday, October 18th from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
