Sister Mary Assisium McGlinn, Sister of Mercy
Sister Assisium, 88, died peacefully on November 2, 2009 at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung, NJ.
Sister was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1941. She received a BS degree in elementary education from Georgian Court College and a MA degree in Administration and Supervision from Villanova University and began her teaching career. She taught in St John School in Collingswood, St Paul School in Burlington, St Paul School in Princeton, Notre Dame High School in Lawrenceville, Our Lady of Victories School in Sayreville and Camden Catholic High School in Cherry Hill. She also served as Principal in Sts Philip and James in Phillipsburg and also was Director of the Media Center at Phillipsburg Catholic HS for 14 years.
In 1991 she retired to Saint James Convent in Red Bank and moved to McAuley Hall Health Care Center in 2004.
She is survived by many Sisters of Mercy, her brother Robert McGlinn of Ridley Park PA and several nieces and nephews and many grand nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at McAuley Hall Health Care Center on
Friday, November 6, 2009. Wake from 9:00 - 11:00 am followed by mass of Christian burial at 11:00am.
Burial in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield, NJ.
