Obituary of Sadie M. Lewis
Sadie (Varner) M. Lewis, age 88, died on Monday, November 2, 2009, at Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Monks Corner, SC., she had also resided in Summit, NJ. In her retirement, she had spent her winters in Daytona Beach, FL and her summers in Bucks County, PA before finally moving to Plainfield.
She was an assembly worker for 10 years, during which time, she met her husband, Robert E. Lewis.
She and her husband loved traveling cross-country by motorcycle and trailer. They camped and built campsites at Hockey Puck then called Colonial Woods in Bucks County, PA. Sadie and her husband had no children, but enjoyed taking their nieces and nephews to the national monuments all across the United States. In her spare time she enjoyed horseshoes.
Predeceased by her husband Robert E. Lewis in 2004: 5 sisters, Julia Varner, Essie Varner, Doris Nunn, Ellen Varner and Jessie DeTorrice and 2 brothers, Daniel Varner and Edmund Varner.
She is survived by 4 generations of nephews and nieces.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, November 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service.
