Obituary of Sr. Aniceta Marie Redmond
On November 15, 2009, Sister Aniceta Marie Redmond passed away in McAuley Health Care Center, Watchung, NJ.
Sr. Aniceta Marie was born in Cape Breton, Canada on December 7, 1912 and she was named Mary Florence Gwendolyn at her baptism. Her parents were Michael Charles and Christine MacDonald Redmond.
Sister Aniceta Marie entered the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception on October 4, 1941 in Immaculate Conception Convent West Paterson, NJ and made her perpetual profession there on August 28, 1946.
In Dartmouth and St. Joseph Schools in Nova Scotia is where she received her elementary education. She graduated from Mission High in Boston, Mass. Sr. Aniceta Marie attended St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, NY and received a B.S. in Dietetics from St. Elizabeth College in Convent Station, NJ and a M.A. in Administration from Catholic University in Washington, DC. She did post-graduate studies in Nutrition at the University of Texas, Austin, TX. She was a certified teacher and a certified dietitian and earned her licensure as a registered dietitian.
Sister Aniceta Marie taught in Immaculate Conception Convent, West Paterson, NJ, St. Peter School, Spring Grove, IL, St. Ann School, Midland TX, Holy Cross Hospital, Austin, TX, St. Joseph School, Kileen, TX, and Midland College, Midland TX.
She was a dietitian in St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, NY, St. Elizabeth Hospital, Houston, TX, Christ the King Seminary, Olean, NY, Holy Cross Hospital, Austin, TX, Beth Israel Hospital, NY, NY, Holy Family Residence, West Paterson, NJ, Midland Memorial Hospital Midland, TX. and Director of Food Service in Bel-Air Manor, Lakeland, NJ and Alps Manor Nursing Home, Wayne, NJ.
Sr. Aniceta Marie worked in St. Joseph Parish, Killeen, TX, as Director of Religious Education and Principal of the Elementary School. She was a Pastoral Minister at St. Paul's Parish, Harker Heights, TX.
Sr. Aniceta Marie was a volunteer for "Sisters Care" in San Antonio, TX.
She was a member of American Dietetic Association-Council of Nutrition, Texas Dietetic Association, Texas Restaurant Association, Austin Nutritional Council, New Jersey Dietetic Association, New York Dietetic Association and Permian Basin Diatetic Association.
In 2001 Sister Aniceta Marie moved to St. Joseph Residence, Ringwood, NJ. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung, NJ the visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Rifle Camp Road, West Paterson, NJ.
