Obituary of Jessie Graham, Jr.

Jessie Graham, Jr., age 85, died on Sunday, November 29th, 2009 at St. Michael's Medical Center in Newark. Born in Savannah, GA. he had resided in Irvington for the past 70 years.Before retiring in 1986, Jessie had worked as a Chemical Operator for Diamond Shamrock in Harrison. He was a member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Newark. In his spare time he enjoyed reading the Bible, pro-boxing and checkers. Jessie loved spending time with his family.Predeceased by his wife Sireader Black in 1980.Surviving are his children Bruce Graham, Jessie Graham, III, Ida Knox and Arthur Graham and his wife Kathleen; brother Earl Graham; sisters Helen Conyer, Winifred Gaines and her husband Calvin and sister-in-law Donna Graham; grandchildren Lena Knox, Jessika Ford and Jeremiah Graham; great-grandchild Anaijah Bryson.Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at the Metroploitan Baptist Church, 149 Springfield Ave., Newark. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Interment is at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
