Obituary of Arthur F. Hahr
Arthur F. Hahr, age 74, died on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at Norwood Terrace Nursing Home in Plainfield. Born and raised in Plainfield, he had lived in North Plainfield, Tewksbury and Watchung before moving back to Plainfield in 2005.
Prior to retiring in 1998, Mr. Hahr was President of Hahr Construction Company in North Plainfield a family business that he started with his two brothers Ed and Paul in 1960. After Mr. Hahr's retirement his nephew Keith Conover, became president of Hahr Construction.
Mr. Hahr served in the Army from 1958-1960, during peacetime in Germany.
He was a member of St. Mary's Stony Hill Church in Watchung. An avid hunter, he was a member of the Pigeon Club in Green Brook, he also was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Plainfield Local 155. In his spare time he liked collecting antiques, going to auctions and listening to country music.
Predeceased by his parents Edward and Virginia Hahr, his daughter Margaret Hahr (2009), his siblings Edward Hahr, Joseph Hahr, Virginia Hahr Whalen, Paul Hahr and Cecilia Conover.
Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara A. (Stohl) Hahr; daughter Nancy Hahr Weidner, her husband Neil and their three children Tabitha Frances, William Arthur and James Edward of Short Hills, son-in-law Sidney Shaw of Montana; brother Eugene Hahr of Florida.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 7th, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church in Watchung. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 6th, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
