Obituary of Maroon Joseph Abraham
Maroon Joseph Abraham, age 81, died on Monday, December 14, 2009 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Newark he had lived in Irvington before moving to Warren thirty-five years ago.
Mr. Abraham was President/Mechanical Engineer of Sigma Design in Union a company that was started by his brother and himself in 1962, and later sold in 1999. He received his degree in Professional Engineering from Newark College of Engineering in 1964, and had attended East High School in Newark and St. James School.
He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954, as a Sergeant stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Ribbon and the Army of occupation Medal for Germany.
A Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Mount Church in Warren, he was also a Maronite and member of St. Sharbel Church. A member of the Knights of Columbus, Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the Kiwanis Club. A great artist, who enjoyed woodworking and making furniture and could repair anything.
Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years Helene (Joseph) Abraham; his son Joseph Abraham of Flemington; daughters Annmarie Howard and her husband Andrew of Greenville, SC; Jamie DePeppo and her husband John of Stewartsville; brother John Abraham and his wife Eileen of Morristown; sisters Sally Abraham; Mildred Abraham and Viola Carlone and her husband Frank; three grandchildren Drew, Kelly and Madeline Howard.
Funeral services will be on Friday, December 18th, at 9:00 a.m. from Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mount Church in Warren.
