Even when I only got to see my grandpa once a year visiting New Jersey, his long and fulfilled life will always inspire me.
He was the nicest and jolliest like all of us should be, addressing me as "sir" and always eager to learn more about my school, and my life. When we had our long conversations at the breakfast lunch and dinner table, his two cents could purchase anything.
Making sure I spent time with him and my grandmother was of great importance that I realize more and more up to this point.
There is so much comfort knowing I continue to be in the best care because he and my grandmother raised my father, who is making me a better man that same way that my grandpa did every time we visited. Because of this, he will always carry on.
Love,
John Sweezy

Every summer for as long as I can remember we would take a 2 week vacation to visit the whole family in New Jersey. Grandpa would always ask us about how school was going and was always very interested in what I had to say. He would always be persistent on waking me and my brother John up for breakfast every morning. At the table, I would look over occasionally and he would always give me a wink. He was always watching over us as kids and will continue to do that from above. We will miss you Grandpa.

I first met George Sr. when my sister Alane and George Jr got married. My first impression of him was that he was a very proud man and very much a gentleman. His smile was contagious and every time I think of George Sr. I remember that smile. His love for his family was very evident and the love of his wife Martha was shown every day. My parents remember going on a bus trip with George and Martha and my mom said that everywhere they went George and Martha held hands. He will be missed by everyone who knew him but he will be with Martha now.

When I started at Pru in 1954, just out of high school, I found George to be one of the kindest and sweetest men. I recall a co-worker referred to him George Squeezy because he was such a nice man and he truly was that.

I have known George Sr. for the past 28 years that George and I have been married. Our vacation was spent every summer for two weeks in New Jersey staying at the house in Warren with the five of us plus our dog, Sam. George was a kind, helpful, extremely polite gentleman through and through. He enjoyed every minute with his grandchildren and was proud of his family. He also enjoyed telling a good joke now and then with a twinkle in his eye. My parents took a bus trip out West with George and Martha one year, and they said he kept the bus load of people entertained with his stories. I’ll always remember the beautiful flowers around the yard on Mountain Ave. thanks to George’s green thumb. So, rest in peace now and “toodle loo” George.
