Obituary of Joseph Belott

Dr Joseph E Belott, Colonel , Professor and World ll Vet Joseph E Belott, 96, of Warren N.J , formerly of Union N.J. passed away peacefully at home on Friday June 21, 2013. A Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel in Warren NJ at 10:30AM on Wednesday June 26, 2013. Born on October 5, 1916, in Newark , NJ to the late William and Helen Belott, Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Connie Bevilacqua Belott in 2002, brothers, William, Victor and Patrick and sisters, Florence Florenza and Helen Basile. Joseph is survived by his children and their spouses , Joseph and Gail Belott of Florham Park NJ, Dr. Robert and Linda Belott of Manasquan N.J., Richard and Linda Belott of Warren N.J. and Dr Susan Connolly and Sheri Brec of Chestnut Hill, MA and loving grandchildren, Meghan, Nina, Frank, John, Nicole and Dana. Joseph served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and after the war he served in the Army National Guard retiring in 1976 at the rank of Colonel. He attended the University of South Carolina on a gymnastic scholarship graduating in 1937 and then after the war he graduated from the University of Maryland dental school in 1947. Dr Belott set up his own dental practice in Newark NJ before going to work for the VA Hospital in East Orange NJ. He also was a professor of Prosthodontics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark NJ before he retired in 1978. After retiring, Joseph and his wife enjoyed their annual trips to Hawaii with their family and friends. His remarkable health and longevity can be attributed to his outlook on life, his daily trips to Starbucks and his walks to the Warren Library.
