Obituary of Dorothy Matko
Dorothy P. Matko
Dorothy (Pohorelli) Matko, 90, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2010 at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Born in Newark, Dorothy lived in Scotch Plains and Fanwood for 36 years before moving in retirement to Silver Ridge Park North in Toms River in 1986, and then to Sunrise of Basking Ridge the end of last year.
She was an office administrator at Nycoil Co. in Fanwood for several years before retiring in 1986 and was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, originally in Newark and now in Union. Her most cherished role, however, was taking care of her family and her home.
Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband of 43 years, Edward Matko Sr., and her beloved sisters, Marie Lehr and Evelyn Nally. She will be deeply missed by her devoted children, Edward Jr. of Milford and Virginia Pelizzoni and her husband Joseph of Warren. She also leaves behind a granddaughter, Kaitlin Kenny, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are private under the direction of Higgins Home For Funerals, Watchung. Those who wish may make contributions in Dorothy's memory to a charity of their choice.
