My life has been blessed from the day Gene and I met. Gene was the kindest, caring and loving man who gave his all to me, his family, friends and his country. If you met him, you loved him and he genuinely loved you back. He was my soul mate and my own true love. I know he is in heaven now with our Dear Lord and St. Pio where he is at peace. I truly feel I have my own Special Angel to watch over me. I will live on all the beautiful cherished memories all the love we shared until we meet once more.
Always in my heart,
Charlotte

So many hugs now gone. Gene was a hugger. He was a true American hero, a devoted family man. He loved God. The world needs more men like him. I will always remember Gene and special way he looked at his Charlotte.
From "The other Charlotte." Rest in the peace of Christ, my friend.

I met Mr. McMahon when we transported him to the hospital last fall. I considered my honor to have met him and enjoyed a short but for me, very meaningful chat with him that evening. I realized that there are truly angels here on earth and I was blessed to have met one, just as he had been blessed by Padre Pio. A day didn't go by after that night that I didn't think of him and wonder how he was. I now know he is at peace and looking down and watching over his wonderful wife Charlotte.

We remember Gene's interesting and upbeat stories as we sat around at our Merecer St block parties that he and Charlotte attended. Always a pleasure to be with and always made it a point to spend time with everyone! We will miss you, Gene!

Hello Pittenger family,
I just wanted to send my deepest sorrows to the family of Mr. Pittenger. We all know death can be very hard on us, but I just wanted to share a brief thought with you. There is a wonderful thought in the Bible at John 5:28 and 29 where Jesus “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” This is a very sobering thought for us to know that we'll be able to see our loved ones one day here on earth.
Would you like to know how?
You can email me at jonest617@yahoo.com
or regular mail Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 259 Elmwood Avenue, East Orange, NJ 07019
Please be assured that this is not soliciting and is also free of charge to learn more about this hope and others just as wonderful.

I do not know this lovely man, and it's my regret. I work with his niece, Jackie Wit, and she forwarded his beautiful obituary to me. My immediate thought was about how brave he was; he is roughly my father's age and those men and women who lived through the Depression and WWII are really the greatest generation of Americans. Our lives are immesurably diminished by their passing. My condolences are with your family - what a handsome, amazing man you are celebrating.

I will always remember the day I met you and Charlotte at the National Center for Padre Pio in Barto, PA in September, 2006. I knew then that we would become very special friends. I wish I lived closer so I could put my arms around Charlotte. Please look after my little sister, Linda. I respect and admire you for all you've been through in life. I'll always love you and will keep you and Charlotte in my prayers. May God hold you in the palm of His hand and comfort you with His everlasting love. Always, Cheryl Hayden Freret, Milton, FL

Although I never met Eugene in person, I spoke with him over the phone and corresponeded by mail, as I interviewed him for my book "Padre Pio and America." He told me that the had gone to confession to St. Padre Pio and also received Communion from him. Padre Pio had the ability to understand many languages, with the help of his guardian angel, and that is how he was able to hear Eugene's confession. Padre Pio is always loyal to his spiritual children, and I am sure is with Eugene now.
