Lorraine (Sporman) Hewitt January 2, 1925-January 14, 2010 Lorraine Hewitt entered God's Kingdom peacefully, on January 14th. She was a lifelong resident of Warren Twp, and served her community and family with love and devotion. She was born in Irvington and moved to Warren Township at the age of 7. There she met and married Norm Hewitt Sr., who predeceased her in 2004. They were married for 61 years. Lorraine possessed a multitude of talent and approached her diverse occupations with zest and strong leadership. In her earlier years, she served as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Laboratories. She provided transportation for voters in Warren during political elections in the 1960's. She was a member of the Warren Elks and worked on various committees for handicapped children. She served as a waitress and manager of several restaurants in the Watchung and North Plainfield areas. She once served Jack Kelly of ABC's Maverick Series, and Jolly Jack, the host of Jolly Jack's Television Show. Her most famous celebrity was physicist PHD Warner Von Braun, the famous German rocket scientist during her time at the Presidential Dining Hall at Belle Labs in Murray Hill. She was the manager of Betty Brite Cleaners in Hillsborough from 1972-1992. Lorraine loved to read, watch her birds, and play the slot machines in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Lorraine and her husband spent many hours at the Plainfield roller rink in their younger days. She was a great cook, and always put her two sons first. She leaves behind her sons Bruce, Norm and wife Peggy, 6 grandchildren; Stacey and her husband Jim Johnson, Noel and husband Bob Wiggins, Capt. Jessica Hewitt USAF, great grandson Andrew, and Bruce Jr., Gina, and Kristen. Lorraine loved to dance with her husband, whom she married at age 18. Mom, may you dance with dad forever in heaven's paradise. A graveside service will be held at Springdale Cemetery in the rear of Springdale Church in Warren on Tuesday, January 19th at 11am. Arrangements are under the direction of Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung, NJ.
