Obituary of Vin Harris

Vincenzina G. Sargeni Harris, 82, died Sunday, February 14, 2010 at her home. Born in Sorano, Italy, she has resided in North Plainfield since 1928, graduating in 1944 from North Plainfield High School and Packard Junior College in New York City. She was a secretary with Laval & Company and later in life she worked at the Kids Club in Green Brook and the East End Elementary School in North Plainfield. Mrs. Harris was an avid reader. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and days at the beach. Her husband Lionel Harris predeceased her in 1987 and a son-in-law, Jerry Carter predeceased her in 2003. Surviving are three daughters, Cathy Schlack and her husband Tony of Bethlehem, PA, Debbie Carter of South Plainfield and Cindy Harris of North Plainfield; a son, Bill Bori and his wife Eileen of Basking Ridge; a brother, Valdo Sargeni and his wife Barbara of West Grove, PA; and her grandchildren, David and Kristen Carter, Douglas, Christopher, Caitlin and Janel Schlack, Kirk and Mackenzie Bori. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11 am at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
