Obituary of Marion Oshin
Marion Oshin (nee Nussbaum), age 72, peacefully passed at home surrounded by loved ones on March 26 after a 3 year valiant battle with cancer.
Marion was born in Fulda, Germany and escaped Nazi persecution in 1940, moving to Minneapolis, MN. She subsequently relocated to Chicago (where she met David), Brooklyn, and Somerset County, NJ.
Marion earned her Bachelors degree in nursing and Masters Degree in social work and provided therapy for drug and alcohol addicted individuals. She also served as President of Temple Beth El in Plainfield and led the merger with Temple Beth Israel in Scotch Plains. Later in life she taught Hebrew to young children at Congregation Beth Israel.
Marion and David enjoyed traveling and spending time in Florida and Vermont.
She is survived by her devoted husband, partner and loyal companion of 51 years, David, her loving children, Debra, Jeffery and Peter, their respective spouses, Steven, Sharon and Leslie as well as 6 adoring grandchildren.
Donations in her honor may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60018 or to a charity of their choice.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday March 28, 2010 at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ with Rabbi George Nudell officiating. Interment to follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge NJ.
