Obituary of Victoria Dougherty
Victoria (Zolmierski) Dougherty, age 98, died on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at her home in North Plainfield. Born and raised in Elizabeth, she lived in Scotch Plains before moving to North Plainfield in 1970.
Prior to retiring she worked as a Bookkeeper with Foley Machinery in Piscataway. A communicant of St. Joseph's Church in North Plainfield. Mrs. Dougherty was a member of the North Plainfield Senior Citizens, VFW Post of Scotch Plains and the Scotch Plains Women's Auxiliary. A world traveler who enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Florida and Atlantic City she loved dining out three times a week.
Predeceased by her husband James Gerard Dougherty, Sr. in 2003.
Surviving are her sons James G. Dougherty, Jr. and his wife Joan and Michael X. Dougherty and his wife Patricia; daughter Colleen V. Zitsch; grandchildren James III, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Michael Jr., Kathleen, Christopher and Stephanie; great-grandchildren Conner, Alexandra and Emily.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in North Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
