Obituary of Philip Casimir Staskewicz
Philip Staskewicz, died on Monday, April 19, 2010 at his home in Warren. He was born in Scanton, PA to Felix and Florence Staskewicz.
Philip spent his childhood in North Plainfield and attended Plainfield HS. He then graduated from Seton Hall University with a BS Degree in Economics and attended Columbia University's Masters Program.
After graduating Seton Hall he entered the United States Marine Corps. Officers Candidate School as a Second Lieutenant. He continued in the Marine Corps Reserves and rose to the rank of Major.
In 1957 he married Phyllis Marzulli (of Bloomfield) in a Mass service at Sacred Heart Basilica in Newark, NJ.
In 1956 he began his 37 year career with AT&T as a Sales Rep in New York City. He went on to become the National Account Manager for Johnson & Johnson. While he held the position of Training Manager at AT&T, he wrote the book "The Telemarketing Edge: A Business Manager's Guide".
Phil was always a physically fit man enjoying competitive tennis, golf, and boating on the Mullica River. His true passion was literature, in particular US History. He had just completed his first novel, "For Your Freedom and Ours", a book of international espionage. Phil was a natural storyteller and spent hours with his grandchildren recounting his vivid memories of his childhood, experience in the U.S. Marines and nature.
Phil was predeceased by his son, Craig and son-in-law, Michael Regina.
Phil is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis of Warren; his daughters, Kimberley Baum (Bridgewater), her husband, Wesley and their children, Whitney and Spencer; Lori England (Warrenton, VA), her husband, Robert and their son, Brandon; Wendy Regina-Vasquez (Princeton), her husband Joe, and their children, Laura, Joseph, Bradley, Katie and Colin.
Visitation will be held at Higgins Home for Funerals on Thursday from 7-9 pm only. Funeral services will begin on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:15 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel in Warren. Interment will be at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge.
Phil sat on the Board of Trustees for Alternatives, Inc. a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting individuals with special needs. In lieu of flowers, the family would be most appreciative if donations were made in his memory to Alternatives, Inc. 600 First Ave., Raritan, NJ 08869.
