Obituary of Richard Conway

Richard Conway, age 63, died on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Lyons VA Medical Center in Basking Ridge. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, grew up in Westfield and spent most of his life in North Plainfield. He was a graduate of Oratory Prep in Summit and attended St. Joseph' s Church Mr. Conway served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart after being wounded in action. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years serving Plainfield and then Watchung prior to retiring in 2001. He enjoyed fishing. Mr. Conway is survived by his sons, Christopher Conway of Warren and Kevin Conway of Franklin; his daughter, Laurie Conway of Basking Ridge; his sisters, Jane McSweeney of Clinton, Maureen McGonagle of Califon and Denise Ryan of Westfield; his 2 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 24th at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in North Plainfield. Interment will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to U. S.
