Obituary of Richard Joseph Luzzi

Richard Luzzi

Bedminster: Richard Joseph Luzzi, age 82, died on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Nutley, he resided in Verona for the past 50 years before moving to Bedminster 6 weeks ago.

Mr. Luzzi graduated from Rutger's University with a BS in Business. He was also a private pilot with the Fairfield Aero Club for over 40 years, flying Cessna airplanes.

Prior to retiring in 1992, he was a self-employed Master Plumber for over 30 years in Verona.

Richard loved to camp and travel, having spent over one year traveling the entire country by himself. He also taught English in Havana and was a peddler on the New York City Streets. He especially loved people and interacting with everyone.

Richard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Theresa C. O'Connor Luzzi; his four children, Richard Joseph, Jr. (Dorothy) of Andover, Keith James of Montclair, Sharon T. Pittfield (Robert) of Warren, and Jamie (Karen) Luzzi of King, NC; his brothers, Daniel of Conway, SC and Russell Luzzi of Murrilles Inlet, SC; and his eight grandchildren, Justin and Tyler Mitnick, Michael Luzzi, Connor and Morgan Pittfield, Elizabeth, Catherine and Rebecca Luzzi.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 9:15 am from the Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung, followed by a 10:00 am Mass Of Resurrection at Blessed Sacrament RC Church, Martinsville and entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
