Obituary of Mary Stephanie Murphy

Mary Stephanie Murphy, age 50, died on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Elizabeth she lived in Clark and Warren before moving to Bridgewater two years ago. Mary attended Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg and Assumption College in Mendham. She was employed by AT&T, then worked for the family business as a florist and most recently was employed by Schering Plough Corporation in Kenilworth as a Human Resources Senior Administrative Assistant. Mary was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville and was involved in the social ministry. She was a Novitiate of Sisters of Christian Charity at Mallinckrodt Convent in Mendham. A past member of Our Lady of the Mount Church in Warren, she was active in young adult groups, the Altar Rosary Society and various other church activities. Mary enjoyed swimming at the Jersey Shore and snorkeling. Predeceased by her father William J. Murphy, Sr. in 1984. Surviving is her mother Adele C. Murphy; brothers William J. Murphy, Jr. and Daniel J. Murphy; her sister Karen Barber; nieces and nephews Michael, Jonathan, Tiffany, Samantha and Zachary; and her beloved cats Tinkerbell and Snowflake. A visitation will be on Friday May 14th, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. A funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15th at 8:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at Immaculate Conception Church, Somerville. Interment is at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
