Obituary of Laverne K. Jenkins

Laverne K. Jenkins, age 61, died on Sunday, May 23rd, 2010 at The Peggy Coloney's House at Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains. Born and raised in Plainfield, she was a lifelong resident until recently moving to Rahway. Before retiring, Laverne was employed at Wachovia Bank of Middlesex. She loved music, talking on the phone and creating laughter with family and friends Laverne was predeceased by her husband Printes Jenkins and parents Joseph and Kathleen Hawkins. Surviving is her brother Joseph L. Hawkins Jr.; her sister-in-law Twanie Hawkins; two nephews Jovonyin and Jarel Hawkins; one niece Jaleah Hawkins; one great-niece Nayla Hawkins; life long companions Willie Mitchell, Catherine Marshall, Joan Boykin and Monique Garland and a host of other cousins, aunts, and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 29th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th Street, Plainfield followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9-10 a.m.
