Although Garry has been gone 6 years I still think about him every time I hear the P-funk. He was as integral to the P-funk as George Clinton. I can't imagine all the songs Parliament and Funkadelic recorded would have been anything like they are without Garry Doo Wop Shider. Obviously being a fan I didn't know Garry personally but having seen him 10 times live I feel like I lost a family member when he passed. I remember the last time I saw him in Kansas City I was close enough to actually shake his hand. I will never forget that and hope that one day I can talk to him in heaven. I know we lost a musical genius and Heaven gained a musical angel. May he rest in peace and his spirit live forever. God Bless Garry Shider and all his family.

My sincerest condolences to the family. I am a huge fan and follower of the Funk. Just happened to come across this page and wanted to pay my respect to the one and only Garry Marshall Shider. His story/legacy is one that should never be forgotten. Though he may not still be here in the physical, his music lives on and on and on and on... #RestInFUNK thank you Mr. Shider for your everlasting contribution and mark on the world. #ForeverStarchild #RIP #Funkin4Life

I'm a record collector from Pittsburgh and back in the late 1960's a DJ in Pittsburgh used to play "Moonlight" by the Admirations, the group Garry Shider was a member of. An absolutely beautiful song. The group was so talented at such a young age. Never able to find the record after a 40 year search. Thank you Garry for the beautiful song.

Garry will be missed as was indeed a "Starchild"! It is always quite an experience to say "I knew him when".
I knew Garry when he and other musicians in Plainfield would get together and express themselves as "unknowns". In reality they were always known for their talents and gifts by the Almighty Creator. We thank our God who gave Garry exactly 56 years to tell the world. God bless the family and those who celebrate his life and gift!
