Obituary of Giacomo Morales

Jack Morales, age 87, died at home in Warren on Monday July 12, 2010, surrounded by his family. Mr. Morales was born and raised in Perth Amboy to the late Giovanni and Giovanna Morales of Caltagirone, Sicily. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a ski trooper in the 85th Infantry battalion of the 10th Mountain Division. He was active in the North Apennines and P.O. Valley Combat Missions. He was honorably discharged in 1945. After WWII he attended Utah State College. He was recalled to duty during the Korean War and honorably discharged as Second Lt. in 1952. After marriage he resided in South Plainfield, Woodbridge, Warren and Branchburg. After retiring in 2003 he moved back to Warren. He was employed at Fort Monmouth, Westinghouse and the Mackay Marine Division of ITT as an Electronic Engineer. His hobbies were electronics and astronomy and he was a ham radio operator. From 1970 to 2003 he and his wife were proprietors of Village Art Supplies and Framing in Martinsville. Mr. Morales was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mount R.C. Church in Warren. Jack loved spending time with his family and enjoyed listening to Big Band Music. Predeceased by 7 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Josephine "Latteri" Morales; son John Morales and his wife Susan of Warren; grandson Christopher Morales; granddaughter Danielle Drecksage and her husband Brian, Jr. and great-grandson Brian, III of Middlesex; one brother Frank who is 94 from Jamesburg. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 15th, 2010 at 9:30 am from Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel, Warren. Visitation will be on Wednesday July, 14th from 6-9 pm. Entombment is at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, Basking Ridge. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Somerset Hills VNA, 200 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920, care of the hospice services.
