Obituary of Muriel A. Lowas

East Berlin, PA: Muriel A. Lowas (Alt), age 84, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at the Cross Keys Brethren Home in New Oxford, PA. She was born in Newark and lived in Irvington and Plainfield before moving to Pennsylvania in 2007. Mrs. Lowas was the wife of Albert F. Lowas for over 52 years before his passing in 1997. She was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, Eucharist Minister, and served in numerous other volunteer positions. She was Rosarian of the Year in 1977. She was a volunteer for Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center for over 25 years. Mrs. Lowas is survived by five children: Virginia M. wife of Edward Beiles of Kernersville, NC; Albert F. Lowas, Jr. married to Rosemary of East Berlin, PA; Rita M. wife of Walter Valega of Mulhall, Oklahoma; Wanda A. Zamani of East Berlin, PA; and Christina M. wife of Peter Kovalevich of East Berlin, PA. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will begin at 9:00 am on Monday, July 19th at Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St., Plainfield followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral mass at St. Bernard's Church in Plainfield. Interment will be at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her loving memory to the VNA of Hanover 440 North Madison St. Hanover PA 17331.
