Green Brook: Patricia Anne Coyle, age 79, died on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Overlook Hospital, Summit NJ. She was born in Elizabeth, NJ and moved to Plainfield thirty-seven years ago.
She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY and did graduate work at Kean College. For ten years she was a sister in the St. Lucy Fillippini order and left to care for her aged parents, Madeline and Arthur Coyle, now deceased.
Miss Coyle was a teacher in Elizabeth NJ and in Bedford Stuyvesant, NY. She also was a caregiver to the disabled for many years and aided young women in crisis pregnancies. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in North Plainfield and for 17 years was a director on the executive board of National Right to Life in Washington, DC. She headed NJ Committee for Life's Political Action Committee to elect pro-life candidates in the state and on the federal level.
She is survived by her brothers, Joseph Coyle and his wife, Maria and Michael Coyle and his wife Barbara; her sisters, Madeline Smyka, Rose Bass, Anne Perone and her husband, Fred, and Rita Levy and her husband Michael; her beloved cousins, Theresa Reilly and her husband Tom and Michele Dunn. Also surviving are 41 nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her brother, Arthur J. Coyle and sister, Marie Vanderheyden.
Funeral services will begin at 9 am on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10 am Mass of Resurrection at St. Joseph's Church, North Plainfield. Interment will be at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery in Watchung. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
