Obituary of John Vincent Tomczak

John Tomczak, age 78, died on Friday, August 20th, 2010, at the Berkeley Heights Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Berkeley Heights. Born and raised in Plainfield, the son of the late John and Stephanie Tomczak, he moved to Warren in 1965. Prior to retiring, he was employed as a Contract Administrator for ITT Avionics in Nutley for over 35 years. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and received a BS in Accounting from Seton Hall University in South Orange. John was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mount RC Church in Warren where he taught CCD for 25 years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 11409. He was Committee Chairman and very active in Boy Scout Troop 28, in Warren and coached Little League in Warren as well. In his spare time he enjoyed stamp collecting and woodworking. Surviving is his loving wife, Sally (Dragula) Tomczak; sons, Mark Tomczak and his wife Trish of Hillsborough and Michael Tomczak and his wife Karen of Salt Lake City, UT; daughter, Ann Marie Tomasetti and her husband Glen of Bridgewater; sister, Dolores Schroback of Whiting and six grandchildren, Alyssa, Casey, Trevor, Tyler, Diego and Sophia. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 23rd at 9:15 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:15 am at Our Lady of the Mount Church, Warren. Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
