Obituary of Alexander Sandor Farkas

Alexander Sandor Farkas, age 91, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at his home in Warren surrounded by his family. He was born in Hungary and lived in Newark and Maplewood before moving to Warren in 1973. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Farkas was a businessman in Hungary until emigrating to the US in 1956 where he became a machinist for Wilbur B. Driver Company in Newark. He was a true Renaissance man who educated himself and built his own home in Newark. He enjoyed bee keeping, tree farming, and also had an avid interest in politics, antiques, classical music and mechanical inventions. Mr. Farkas was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mount Church in Warren. He is survived by his wife of 65, Margit (Egervari) Farkas; his son, Alexander Peter Farkas of Atlanta, GA; his daughters, Judit Kapalin of Maplewood, Eva Piotrowski of Warren and Marta Krisko of North Palm Beach, FL; his grandchildren, Idilko Kapalin, Brian F. Kapalin, Tibor Krisko and Kinga Krisko-Lobo. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 11th at 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Mount Chapel, Warren.
