Obituary of Joan M. Russo

Warren: Joan M. Russo, age 74, died on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Joan was born and raised in Rahway, where she was then affiliated with St. Peter's in Newark. She worked very closely with the Catholic Church until1963 when she became a schoolteacher for the Summit Board of Education thru December of 1972. She met her beloved husband, Nicholas in November of 1967 and they were married the following year in 1968. Joan was a wonderful person who was loved by so many. She is predeceased by her sister in law, Rose Walters and her husband, John. Surviving are her husband, Nicholas J. Russo; her son, Michael J. Russo; and her daughter, Renate-Marie Russo; her sisters; Nancy Pritula and Beverly Statile; Sister in Law, Janice Sibilia and her husband Joseph; Nephews, John, Richard, Roy, Joseph and Frank, Nieces; Diane, Laura and Debra and 7 great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Martinsville. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
