Obituary of Robert A. Mobus

On July 22, 2013, while surrounded by his loving family Robert "Gus" Mobus, age 84, was called home by the Good Lord. Gus was born and raised in Warrenville, NJ and also had a farm in Canton, PA.

Gus attended North Plainfield High School. He was a member of the Carpenters Union of Plainfield and worked for Woolsulate Corporation of Fairfield, NJ for many years.

Gus served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a proud life member of the Washington Valley Fire Company, serving as Chief for fifteen years. He was also a member of the Warren Rescue Squad, Bound Brook Elks, Canton Moose Wheel Inn and the Warren Township Planning Board.

He enjoyed hunting and farming and cherished the time he spent with his dog Maggie and his livestock.

He was predeceased by his wife Catherine "Red" Lappin Mobus; his brother Wilbur Mobus and his sister Emily Ruchko.

Gus is survived by his sons Robert Mobus and his wife Duane, George Mobus and his wife Cindy and William Mobus and his wife Jill; three sisters Nancy Cornelius, Shirley DeFillipis and Betty Rodgers; his devoted companion of twenty-three years Peggy Sadlon and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Springdale United Methodist Cemetery, Warren. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Washington Valley Fire Company, 146 Washington Valley Rd., Warren, NJ 07059 or the Springdale United Methodist Church, 109 Washington Valley Rd., Warren 07059.
