Obituary of Gail P. Begley

Gail P. (Hawke) Begley, age 66, died on Friday, October 22, 2010 at her home in Barnegat. Gail was raised in Union and lived in Bridgewater and Manahawkin before moving to Barnegat in 2009. She was employed by National Starch and Chemical Company in Bridgewater as an administrative assistant for eighteen years. Gail was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and niece. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She loved the ocean, walking on the beach, flying kites and building sand castles with her grandchildren. Gail was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph; her father, Francis Hawke and her mother and father-in-law, Catherine and Joseph Begley, Sr. She is survived by her children, Christina Vandervoort and her husband, Todd of Somerville, Joseph Begley of Hillsborough and Stacey Haykel and her husband, Jason of Manahawkin; her mother, Evelyn Hawke of Watchung; her brother, Russell Hawke of Dayton and two loving aunts, Irene Priece of Bridgewater and Elfrieda Oppel of Union. Also surviving are five caring grandchildren, Espree, Aaron and Kacee Vandervoort and Abigail and Jonah Haykel. After a private cremation, her entombment will be at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at Toms River Presbyterian Church at 1070 Hooper Ave., Toms River on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Gail's 22 year battle with cancer.
