Obituary of Charles Romano

Charles Romano, age 79, died on Friday, October 29th, 2010 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Born in Newark, he resided in Maplewood before moving to Millington in 1986. Charles was employed at the Upper Montclair Country Club where he enjoyed spending his days, he was previously retired from General Motors in Linden as a machinist. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Vincent De Paul Church in Stirling. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, dancing and singing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Predeceased by his loving wife Marie Romano in 2005, his brother and sister-in-law John and Carmella Romano and his sister Josephine and brother-in-law Angelo Vecoli. Surviving is his son Dr. Philip Romano and his wife Ilene; daughters Maria Pietrone and her husband Nick; Madelyn Ballesteros and her husband German; brother Philip Romano and his wife Rosemarie; grandchildren Danielle, Jessica, Alexis and Rebecca Romano and Stephen Charles and Dylan Ballesteros. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 9:15 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Church, Stirling. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Cemetery, Union.
