Obituary of Mary Matejek

Mary Matejek, age 92, died on Thursday November 4, 2010 at her home in Plainfield. Born in Brooklyn NY, she had resided in Newark and Dunellen before moving to Plainfield in July of 1956. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a seamstress in New York City and was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting and embroidery. She also loved gardening. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John Michael Matejek in 2005. Surviving are two sons, John James Matejek of Plainfield and Michael Matthew Matejek and his wife Diane of Skillman and five grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Jimmy, Robert and Brian. Funeral services will be held on Monday November 8, 2010 at 7:30 am at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West 8th St. Plainfield followed by a 9:00 am Mass of Resurrection at Mary Mother of God Church in Hillsborough and interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
