I am so sorry to just hear of the passing of Dr. Paone. I was one of his first patients when he started his practice in New Providence and my first glasses. I continued until I moved to Fl in 1999. I think he was only seeing a few patients at that time. We always laughed when we looked at my thick folder containing years of my information. I always remember him as kind and friendly. Whenever I go to an eye Dr I hear Dr. Paone say, " like buttons on a shirt".

I just learned of Cos's death, and I am so sorry for your personal loss. Optometry has lost a great mentor. I loved his no nonsense, practical advice. Cos was also "bigger than life" at our CE meetings. He was welcoming, approachable, honest, helpful and very knowledgable. He certainly will be missed by his colleagues. Sincerely, Joan Schiller

We were "penpals" but by phone for more than a year. Cos was kind and dear to me. He helped me to feel welcome in Warren. He advised me on many things, including what car to purchase, what businesses were reputable, etc. Whenever we spoke he'd say, "You're a smart woman, Pat." I learned about his entire family, his practice in Berkely Heights, his military service, and his club affiliations. He liked golf and poker. He was loyal to his faith and to his departed wife and daughter. I was fortunate to have known him. He was a fine gentleman. I wept when I heard that my friend died. I have cried since, too. I perk up when I realize that Cos is exactly where he wants to be. He was ready. The souls in paradise rejoiced and said, "Here he comes...we were waiting!" While I was left on this side lamenting, "There he goes. My sad heart misses him."

I know Dr. Paone for about 15 years since I started working with David Allegra. No matter where I saw Dr. Paone, he always greeted me with a warm smile and always had a story. Whether it was about Staten Island, because I also came from Staten Island, or about how Berkeley Heights changed through the years. I would also see him at all his grandson's baseball games because my son was on New Providence's team. What a wonderful and dedicated husband, dad and grandfather. He will be missed, but never forgotten. My prayers and thoughts are with the family.

I worked next door to Dr. Paone for 5 years. He was always a gentleman & I enjoyed our conversations together. Later on, I would frequently see him when he was an usher at 10am Mass at Our Lady of the Mount. My condolences to Michael, Bruce & Mark. I will remember him fondly.

I never met your father but, he is part of generation that this country needs to examplify. Serving your country, going to school to evetnually become a Doctor, to travel the country and world, and have a beautiful family. He lived a full life, and I didn't need to know him to know that.
God Bless
