Obituary of Donald David McGrath
Manasquan: Mr. Donald David McGrath, 46, died suddenly on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at his home.
Born in Plainfield, he resided in Woodbridge, NJ before moving to Manasquan 15 years ago.
Donald graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He was the chef for many years at O'Neil's Restaurant and most recently at the Irish Rail. Don shared his love for the NY Yankees with his mother and brother Ed and he traveled by turnpike, train, boat and subway to their home games. Known for his wry sense of humor and kind heart, he will be greatly missed by all.
His father, Edward T. McGrath predeceased him in 2008.
Surviving are his mother, Alice Perry McGrath of Plainfield; his brother, Edward T. McGrath, Jr. of Watertown, Mass; his two sisters, Eileen Higgins of Martinsville and Patricia Branch of Burlington, VT; his nephews, Patrick and Timothy Higgins; his brothers-in-law, Nicholas Branch and Joseph Higgins and sister-in-law, Julie Johnson-McGrath.
Funeral Services will begin on Tuesday, December 28th at 9:00 a.m. a from the Higgins Home for Funerals, 209 West Eighth Street, Plainfield followed by a 10 am Mass of Resurrection at St. Bernard of Clarivaux Church in Plainfield. Cremation is private. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
